Prince of Persia gets screenwriter

Nearly two years after it was first revealed, it appears that the Prince of Persia big-screen adaptation is finally moving forward. Screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff has signed on to the project, which is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Jeffrey Nachmanoff's screenwriting credits include The Day After Tomorrow, and One Nation, which is scheduled for a 2006 release - both from director Roland Emmerich.

While many fans might initially be disappointed by this, as the original screenwriter announced for this film was Jordan Mechner himself, it seems that Nachmanoff was brought on board not to replace Jordan's script but to give it a scripting overhaul.

No release date has been set so far, and no actors or director have signed on to the project.

We will keep you updated, and host the trailer here as soon as it's available.

Prince of Persia tells the story of an adventurous prince who uncovers a dangerous artifact in a remote mountain kingdom and, with the help of an enemy princess, must stop a despot from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy all mankind.
